Amazon PrimeSince 2005, Amazon Prime members have enjoyed its signature perk: free shipping. And lately, Amazon has been enhancing the benefits of its $99-per-year Prime package to include early access to special deals, along with streaming movies and music.

Now, members can store their photos for free and the shipping perk is being extended to other online retailers’ sites.

Amazon Prime began with free, unlimited two-day shipping. Then came the entertainment package of Prime Instant Video, so members could instantly stream thousands of movies and TV shows.

Amazon also introduced Prime Music, with hundreds of playlists and free streaming of over a million songs. Prime members can also borrow e-books through the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library and read them on their Kindle devices.

These perks are all included in the $99 annual membership for millions of Amazon Prime customers.

Now Amazon is sweetening the Prime pot with a new benefit: free, unlimited photo storage in Amazon Cloud Drive, right in time for the holidays.

With Prime Photos, Amazon Prime members can now securely store existing photos, upload new ones and access everything anytime, from anywhere. No more dealing with photos stored in various places across various devices – from now on, they can all be in one convenient and accessible place, and viewable on members’ computers, tablets, TVs and smartphones.

But photo storage isn’t the only thing benefit for Amazon Prime members.

For the first time since Prime membership launched, Amazon is extending its free shipping deal to another online retailer’s site. Members will now be able to shop on British fashion site AllSaints.com and get free overnight shipping and free returns on all purchases. Here’s how it works:

  • AllSaints advertises on Amazon.com search results.
  • Shoppers find the item they want.
  • Shoppers are directed to click through to the AllSaints website.
  • They finalize the order by logging in with their Amazon Prime membership details.
  • Amazon charges AllSaints when customers click through from Amazon to the AllSaints site, but does not charge a percentage of the purchase.

Customers will not be purchasing AllSaints boots, jackets or jeans directly from Amazon.com, and AllSaints will handle all of the packaging and shipping.

As Amazon continues to enhance its Prime membership program, other online retailers might find it even more difficult to compete with the web giant.
